If you get a message when
trying to start the Comm1 program that reads: This program requires
at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run, you will need to follow
the instructions extracted from Microsofts website. There are
two ways of accomplishing the same task.
You must be logged on as
an administrator or a member of the Administrators group on your
computer in order to complete this procedure. If your computer
is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent
you from completing this procedure. This is the first way and
preferred method. This means that your Control Panel is in
Category View:
1. Click Start, click Control
Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Performance.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Change under Virtual
memory.
4. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the
paging file you want to change, which is usually the C drive.
5. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size,
type 4000 as the new paging file size in megabytes
(MB) in both the Initial size (MB) and Maximum size (MB) box,
and then click Set.
If you don't see Perfomance and Maintenance
icon, use this second method. This means that your Control
Panel is set up in Classic View:
1. Click Start, click Control
Panel, double click System icon by scrolling towards the bottom
of Control Panle window.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then
click Settings under Performance.
If you decrease the size
of either the initial or maximum paging file settings, you must
restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. When
you increase the paging file size, you typically do not need to
restart your computer.
